Sport

Students have much to gain form involvement in sport and extra-curricular activities. Sport plays an important role in the daily life of Ardscoil na Mara. Apart from the all-important health benefits, sport provides an excellent opportunity for students to learn new skills, nurture self-confidence, and maximise their physical potential. Our girls and boys compete for, and have enjoyed, successes in a range of sporting activities, in both team-based and in individual disciplines. Sports the girls and boys are involved in include:

  • Soccer

Our Soccer teams have three different age groups for both boys and girls. Under-14s, made up of first and second years, Under-16s and Senior. The teams have been very successful over the years.

  • Basketball

Ardscoil na Mara provides basketball teams for both girls and boys. Basketball is a sport that is gaining great traction among staff and students alike, the school teams have reached All Ireland finals in recent years which shows the effort the players and coaches put in.

Our camogie teams have been training hard over the last term and they are progressing very well.

We are delighted to see so many first year girls signed up to the school team and they are settling in very well. Training is every Wednesday from 4-5. Anyone who would like to join at any point are very welcome.

  • Athletics

Athletics in this school is offered as an avenue for those who compete outside of school to take part in county and provincial school’s athletics competitions.

  • Tennis
  • Hurling

Hurling is a very popular sport in Ardscoil na Mara. Our Hurling teams have been consistent throughout the years, competing in and reaching the later stages of competitions in all age groups.
