All Ireland Schools Cross Country Bronze
For the Junior Boys team 7-3-20
Another day on the cross country course for this fantastic junior boys team. The destination was Santry and conditions were as good as one could hope for. The neater the course the faster the pace, so the lads discovered. However, huge performances were put in once again, with none other than Ben Kiely to lead the team home with an individual 12th place, he stayed with the lead pack the whole way around and it was sheer guts and determination that allowed him to stay in that position. Michael Cuddihy battled hard and finished in 28th, Ben Brophy made it home in 41st and Peter Ellickson with a massive jump to be the last scorer and gain 4th spot on the team in 51st, Tom Halley fought bravely and was close behind in 55th, Maurice Quaid 67th with JP O'Brien 78th and Danny O'Shea 86th, completed the team. Thanks to all the parents who offered massive support on the day and for their help and encouragement throughout. The team finished on 132 points overall that placed them the 3rd best team, they were only 4 points off second place and 12 points off first. It was some journey and some achievement for a group of students who for the most part are raw to this event. Hopefully it bodes well in time to come for this team, a valuable memory for them as well as a first for Ardscoil na Mara at all Ireland cross country level.
