East Munster Cross Country Championships

Ardscoil na Mara had great representation at the East Munster Cross Country Championships in Carriganore, with a thirty strong field of athletes. First up were the minor boys, the team consisted of Esdras Irabizi, who finished a fantastic 6th to qualify for the Munster Championships, Neill Allen who also finished in 10th place to make it a second qualification for the minor boys, Ethan Mpofu and Emmanuel Koomson put in strong runs for their first time running cross country.

The junior girls also put in an excellent effort with many stepping foot onto one of the hardest cross country courses and coming away with great experience. Chloe Bennett finished top of the girls to finish in 18th position narrowly missing qualification by three places.

The junior boys upped their game again today by winning the East Munster Junior boys team. Michéal Cuddihy put in an excellent performance to finish 2nd overall to just edge out a hard fighting Ben Kiely in 3rd, Maurice Quaid on his cross country debut fought bravely into 6th with Ben Brophy not far behind in 8th, that secured the win for their team by 64 points to the nearest team. Others to contribute towards this performance were Tom Halley, Peter Ellickson, JP O Brien, Danny O Shea, Dan Brennan and Geoff Buckley. Aisling Milner put in a gutsy performance as the sole competitor in the girls intermediate category.

The final race of the day saw the intermediate boys team put in a solid performance yet again well done to all involved, Toby Ogugua, Richard Walsh, Darren Wall, Harry Walsh and Jay Finn.
