Hard luck to our wonderful Under 19 girls basketball team who bowed out of the competition at the All Ireland play off stage. Preparation was not ideal for our 6th Year as they battled through a week of pre exams and then took to the court on Saturday. It was nip and tuck for all the game against Killina Secondary School, Tullamore in the first match but Killina finished better to keep their small lead into the final few minutes. Killina were helped along by their excellent International player and will be a force to be reckoned with in the All Ireland semi. We finished of the play off tournament with a fabulous 21 point win over St. Mary's, Macroom. All players who took to the court played their hearts out and showed great teamwork as over eleven players got their names on the scoresheet.
A Special mention must be given to our seven magnificent 6th years who finished their Ardscoil na Mara basketball career after 5 or 6 years. Many have won four South East titles for the school which is a tremendous achievement. I hope that they continue playing after they leave school wherever their journey through life takes them. The 6th years are Barbara Severec (Captain), Amirah Busari, Jordan Kiely, Emily Cronin, Alan Carney, Emma Barry and Chantel Ofori.
