Waterford Schools Cross Country Championship in Dungarvan on 15th January 2020. The school had a total of 13 athletes taking part. Chloe Bennett was the first on the course and had a strong run in the junior girls race to finish in 5th. The junior boys were on next. Ben Kiely, officially named the team captain by Ms. Mary Ashe for how well he led the team home. But it was Ben and Michéal Cuddihy who established a fast pace to control the lead and maintained it until the finish, they finished with Ben in 1st and Micheal 2nd, Ben Brophy in 11th and Tom Halley in 16th, that made an accumulated lowest score overall to win them the best Junior team of the day and to win the new Michael Gregan Trophy for Ardscoil na Mara. Other Students that further contributed to pushing the team on were, Séan Schley, Shane Wyse and Dan Brennan.
The school also had athletes in the intermediate and senior boys distances. Toby Ogugua had a very consistent run to finish in 8th in the intermediate, followed home by Richard Walsh in 14th. Daniel Wall and Harry Walsh also put in strong performances to finish well. Jai Finn braved the senior 4500m distance alone and kept a consistent pace to finish strongly a great effort overall by all involved on the day.
