2021/2022 Update.
In 2021/2022 Ardscoil na Mara trained over 1,200 students & staff in the vital lifesaving skill of CPR. It was done in conjunction with the Irish Heart Foundation which culminated in the 2022 Heart Day in Ardscoil na Mara.
To mark ‘ASNM Heart Day’ the News and Star were present to witness the entire school come together on the school pitch to recognise the scale of the training that took place. On the school pitch we gathered in the shape of a heart made up of the 1,200 trained students & staff.
This was to signify how our school is at the heart of the community as well as acknowledging the scale of the achievement. There was an article in the News & Star following the event.
As part of Heart Day, a red jumper day was held to help raise funds for the local Community First Responder group from the Order of Malta Tramore. €1,400 was presented to help support the group.
Ardscoil na Mara was presented with a ‘CPR 4 Schools Special Recognition Award’ for successfully training all students.
The training was only completed due to the help and support of a group of TY students who assisted in setting up and teaching each CPR lesson. The TY students were also presented with the ‘CPR 4 Schools Heroes Award’ for their hard work throughout the year.
During 2021/2022 the TY students were also involved in designing a map of the town of Tramore showing the location of all the AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators), including the address & times of availability. The students then linked up with Sean Martin and his staff in An Post to ensure that a map was delivered to every house and business in the town.
To enable us to train all students and staff Mulligan’s Pharmacy, Tramore assisted us with the purchase of CPR mannikins for which we are grateful.
